The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia will be hosting an intensive Instructor Training for tutors. The training occurs on two Saturdays (June 6 and 13). Participants must attend both sessions of the workshop. Please note that prospective instructors are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation and pay a one-time $50 Volunteer Registration fee before signing up for training (see event schedule for details). Training is free to attend for current LCNV volunteers.

This Instructor Training is designed to provide participants with the training they will need to effectively tutor learners from the Literacy Council’s waiting list. These learners are at the beginning level and need help with all aspects of English: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Portions of the training will highlight general tutoring skills, standard texts, and support available to tutors. Tutors are usually matched with a student during the training. If a tutor is not matched with a student, they will be contacted as soon as an appropriate student becomes available.

The trainings are scheduled to go until 3pm on Saturday; however, that end time may change.
