Welcome LCNV’s New Student Services Coordinator Jordan Alexander

We are pleased to welcome Jordan Alexander to LCNV! As Student Services Coordinator, Jordan will be handling our designated and supplemental tutoring programs, including quarterly tutor reports, and providing general support to our student services initiatives. Jordan has a BA in International Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University, and moved into the corporate world after he finished school. Following this, he worked in healthcare, and eventually education as an AmeriCorps member. Jordan advocated for low income families and students with AmeriCorps, sparking his interest to continue to serve a population in need of accessible education. This drive to make education available to everyone brought him to the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia.

Jordan was attracted to LCNV’s mission for a number of reasons. His time in the corporate world taught him to value any opportunity to help others. Growing up in a military family, Jordan has lived all over the world, and his experience adapting to new cultures and attempting to learn other languages has taught him that “being a non-native speaker can have a stigma”. Jordan has worked throughout the DMV area, and has seen the tremendous advantage that easily accessible education can give to everyone.

Jordan is excited to learn more about quarterly tutoring reports and data analysis. He hopes that he can improve his Spanish in his new position, and maybe even learn a little Vietnamese! Finally, he’s looking forward to working with his new team, and getting to know the dedicated volunteers, staff, and teachers who make LCNV a success.

Welcome to the team, Jordan!
