Introducing the Patricia M. Donnelly Merit Scholarship

During the Literacy Council of Northern Virginia's 2017 Annual Recognition Event, a special surprise was presented at the end of the program by LCNV’s Board of Directors to honor Executive Director Patricia Donnelly’s 15 years of service to LCNV. With the establishment of the Patricia M. Donnelly Merit Scholarship, LCNV celebrates the hard work of Patricia Donnelly, and further improves the lives of English language learners. Read an excerpt from Board Member Carol Ashworth’s scholarship presentation below:

“The LCNV Board wants to thank Patti for her incredible dedication over the past 15 years and to recognize the long lasting impact her leadership will have on this organization and, most importantly, in the lives of our students. So, it is my great privilege to announce that starting in 2018, the LCNV Board will proudly award the first Patricia M. Donnelly Merit Scholarship that will be given every year to a deserving student. This scholarship will be awarded to a level one student and will pay for their remaining semesters. The person receiving the scholarship must show progress in their English studies at level one, an excellent attendance record and, above all, a real commitment to learning. We hope that the students who receive this scholarship in the coming years will be inspired by Patti’s commitment to adult learning as they continue their education.”
